Supporting and promoting tennis in the Ann Arbor area
ANN ARBOR AREA COMMUNITY TENNIS ASSOCIATION
Be an AAACTA-vist ...
AAACTA is recognized by the IRS as a nonprofit organization under 501(c)(3).
DEFINITION:
AAACTA's Social Drop-In Tennis program is focused on providing an opportunity for fun, social play for adults. We will meet at Pioneer High School on Friday evenings as weather permits and play a combination of singles, doubles, and group games.
LEVELS:
These events are most suitable for adults with an NTRP of 2.5–4.0.
REGISTRATION:
No registration is required, but an RSVP is appreciated for planning purposes.
FEE:
Free! The program is funded by AAACTA and by the sponsoring tennis facilities. Donations are always welcome!
EQUIPMENT:
Please bring your own racket, some tennis balls, and water bottle and wear suitable court shoes.
SCHEDULE:
Official start time is 5:30pm on Fridays at Pioneer High School, running from spring through October, weather and court availability permitting. Check for days and sign up here.
Early arrival (5:00pm): Some players coordinate via the WhatsApp group to arrive at 5:00pm, right after Pioneer High School teams finish. This is informal and organized on the fly through the group chat.
WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT:
There is a WhatsApp group used for same-day coordination and ad hoc drop-in communication. This includes weather checks, early arrival coordination, and letting the group know if you’re running late or heading over unexpectedly.
Joining the group: On your first visit, just ask around on the court — any regular can help add you. This keeps the group limited to active Social Drop-In participants.
PLAYER AMENITIES (when AAACTA volunteers are present):
- AAACTA volunteers to help organize group games
- New tennis balls (subject to availability)
