Free Beginning Tennis Program for 6th Graders

The Sixth-Grade Tennis Program teaches the fundamentals of tennis ground strokes, volleys, and sportsmanship to beginning players in the sixth grade at each of the seven Ann Arbor Public Schools that have sixth graders. The program is free to players, and AAACTA provides balls and rackets (or players may use their own rackets). The program uses adult volunteers and high school tennis players to teach the six 1.25-hour sessions at each school.

The Sixth-Grade Tennis Program will be held April 18 to June 3. COVID precautions: We will not have indoor tennis, so in case of rain, the session will be canceled. Mask wearing is not required for vaccinated participants. If not vaccinated, players are strongly encouraged to wear a face mask during the sessions, and should bring one to each session.

The 2022 Ralleyball Tournament will be held on Tuesday, May 31, at the Varsity Tennis Center. Play will be from 4:00pm to 5:30pm, but parents can bring their students to the Varsity Tennis Center as early as 3:30. All parents should read the detailed description of the event here.
