Free Beginning Tennis Program for 6th Graders
The Sixth-Grade Tennis Program teaches the fundamentals of tennis ground strokes, volleys, and sportsmanship to beginning players in the sixth grade at each of the seven Ann Arbor Public Schools that have sixth graders. The program is free to players, and AAACTA provides balls and rackets (or players may use their own rackets). The program uses adult volunteers and high school tennis players to teach the six 1.25-hour sessions at each school.
The Sixth-Grade Tennis Program will be held April 17 to May 25. COVID precautions: In case of rain, the session will be moved indoors, but may be canceled due to a lack of available space. Mask wearing is not required for vaccinated participants. If not vaccinated, players are strongly encouraged to wear a face mask during the sessions, and should bring one to each session.
The 2023 Ralleyball Tournament will be held on May 30 at the Varsity Tennis Center, 2250 S State St. Play will be from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. AAPS will provide transportation to the Ralleyball tournament; parents must take their sixth graders home from the tournament. Detailed information is available on the Ralleyball Information Sheet.
AAACTA's Sixth-Grade Tennis Program began in 2000!
